Diversity and Inclusion

NWP Coal is committed to fostering a workplace culture that recognizes the profound business and human value inherent in diversity and inclusion. Understanding that a diverse workforce brings a wealth of perspectives and talents, NWP is dedicated to developing comprehensive programs aimed at training, hiring, and retaining individuals from under-represented communities.

We aim to create an environment that reflects the richness of society and enhances innovation and creativity within the organization. We are committed to identifying and dismantling barriers that may hinder the participation of individuals from diverse backgrounds in engagement, employment, or business relationships.

Through these initiatives, NWP Coal is poised to contribute to a more inclusive and equitable workplace that celebrates differences and leverages them for the benefit of both the company and its employees.

Gender-Based Analysis Plus (GBA+)

The assessment for the Project includes a Gender-Based Analysis Plus (GBA+) Study.

The purpose of this study is to identify potential social impacts (positive and negative) from the perspectives and lived experiences of underrepresented groups. Questions  asked during the interviews were centered around these themes:

  • Opportunities and barriers that exist  to participation in mining
  • Challenges members face living in nearby mining towns in relation to housing supply & affordability, childcare access, cost of living, and racism
  • Safety issues for Indigenous / First Nations women, children, and two-spirited individuals
  • Any suggestions on what mining companies could do to improve the participation / reduce barriers in the mining industry
